Garage is a modern marketplace for America's most essential equipment– including emergency vehicles and equipment. Our platform delivers a seamless, end-to-end experience by combining AI-powered appraisals, secure online payments, and integrated freight logistics – streamlining everything from listing to delivery. We help buyers gain access to vehicles and equipment they otherwise couldn’t reach, while enabling sellers to maximize the value of their used assets and keep more funding in their local departments.
The idea for Garage came from my experience working as a firefighter, where I saw firsthand how difficult it was to buy and sell fire trucks and equipment. Traditionally, fire departments would use Facebook groups, local surplus auctions, and word of mouth to move six-figure, mission-critical equipment. Deals took months, prices were depressed, and the risk sat squarely on chiefs and city administrators who already have too much on their plates.
In 2023, a friend in the fire service called asking for a better way. That led to what is now Garage. Alaz and I left our jobs to build a nationwide marketplace tailor-made for expensive, hard-to-move equipment like fire apparatus. With Garage, we use AI to automate the ugly, manual pieces such as appraisal, freight, and payments that slow down transactions and replace ad hoc, low-trust channels with an end-to-end solution that respects the time, budgets, and responsibility of the people who keep their communities safe.
What started as a simple idea to help departments move used trucks has evolved into a broader mission to bring transparency, efficiency, and fairness to how public agencies buy and sell equipment. We are building not just a platform but the infrastructure for how civic organizations will transact in the future with greater speed, security, and trust.
Across the United States, we serve the people who keep their communities safe. Our users include career and volunteer fire departments, municipal fleet managers, and emergency services agencies that need mission-critical gear but do not have months or seven-figure budgets to wait.
On the sell side, departments list decommissioned apparatus and gear. On the buy side, budget-constrained departments find mission-ready equipment they can trust.
With Garage, sellers and buyers get a better experience at every step:
We serve governments and departments that need a compliant, trustworthy way to dispose of surplus or source affordable gear. On Garage, every step is standardized with inspections and virtual walkthroughs for transparency, integrated payments and escrow for safety, and coordinated freight and warranty to reduce delivery risk.
We have leaned in with white-glove onboarding so even resource-constrained teams can list and close successfully. The result is real liquidity and better outcomes for both sides.
The most meaningful thing we hear from departments is that Garage restores confidence in a process that used to feel broken. By giving them a modern, secure, and fair way to buy and sell, we are not just moving trucks — we are helping departments stretch limited budgets further and stay mission-ready for the people who rely on them.
Two things stand out most clearly.
The first is that trust is not a feature of our product — it is the product itself. When we first started, we viewed trust as something we could design into the experience through inspections, warranties, and escrow. What we learned is that the entire business depends on the confidence departments have in us to protect them when the stakes are high. Every transaction involves a six-figure asset that someone relies on to save lives. The credibility we earn by solving their hardest problems, being available when issues arise, and always making the customer whole compounds faster than revenue. In this industry, trust spreads through word of mouth. Every good experience becomes a story told to the next department chief, and that has proven to be our strongest form of growth.
The second learning is that relationships still matter more than any digital strategy. Meeting people in person, shaking hands at conferences, and showing up on site builds belief faster than any marketing campaign ever could. We are determined to be long-term partners to the municipalities we serve. This is why we provide support beyond their first transaction — from full-fleet appraisals to extended warranties to make sure they can keep their equipment in service.
Our customer testimonial videos are a testament to the trust and deep relationships we’ve already built with many of our customers, whom we view as long-term partners of the platform.
The broader lesson is that technology alone cannot replace the human connection that public service work is built on. Software can streamline a process, but real trust is built through actions that show we understand the weight of their responsibility. Combining a modern digital marketplace with the personal accountability that defines the fire service has become the foundation of how Garage operates.
We chose partners who bring more than capital. Infinity led our Series A alongside YC, Initialized, FJ Labs, and others. What we valued was strategic push and long-term alignment, not just a term sheet.
They have helped us stay disciplined on the boring but compounding parts such as compliance, logistics quality, and a staged approach to embedded fintech, while supporting hiring and go-to-market.
Infinity has also been a real thought partner as we scale. They push us to think in terms of durable systems and reputation, not short-term metrics, and to focus on the details that build trust with departments over time. Their perspective has helped us balance ambition with pragmatism and build a foundation strong enough to support the long arc of what we are trying to do.
Garage is building the premier modern marketplace for America’s most essential equipment. Looking ahead, we are expanding our platform into new verticals and municipalities, investing in product innovation, and growing our New York-based team.
Our goal is to simplify procurement and resale today while setting the standard for how government agencies transact tomorrow with greater transparency, efficiency, and trust.
Over the next chapter, we are focused on scaling the infrastructure that powers these transactions and continuing to invest in our value-added services such as financing, insurance, and warranty coverage that make the experience even more seamless. We plan to bring the same model that works in fire and emergency services to adjacent categories like police, sanitation, and public works, where the same inefficiencies and trust gaps exist.
At its core, Garage will continue to stand for reliability and respect for the people who serve their communities. The technology will evolve, the footprint will grow, but the mission will stay the same. We are building the trusted backbone for civic commerce and setting a new bar for how public agencies buy and sell the equipment that keeps America running.
